Вот что пишет нам педия нашей вики: "AWK was created at Bell Labs in the 1970s,[1] and its name is derived from the family names of its authors – Alfred Aho, Peter Weinberger, and Brian Kernighan."
А у GAWK автора нет, он как-то сам собой зародился. Ну разве что Brian Kernighan его слегка потестировал да подебажил, ман нам так прямо об этом и сообщает:
Ну но вот и зачем автору отдавать своё произведение фонду, который неуважает авторов программ настолько, что даже их имена не считает нужным указывать?
